The church Strandarkirkja is one of the most famous churches in Iceland. You can visit it when joining one of our ATV Tours.
Strandarkirkja is a nation famed for general vows and stands on a rocky coast. Many stories exist about kirkja and how it was formed. The present church dates from 1988 and it is considered one of the “richest” churches in Iceland as it is believed that if you lose something or are afraid of losing someone you wow on Strandarkirkja to donate money to it if everything will be ok or you find the person/item you are looking for.
Selvogsviti light house
The lighthouse Selvogsviti in Selvogur was built in 1919 and rebuilt in 1931. The tower is 15.8 meters and is now operated automatically. It’s a lighthouse that has saved many lives and you can visit it during one of our ATV tours.
The Herdísarvík inlet by Þorlákshöfn is a really interesting historic place that you can visit during one of our ATV tours.
Herdísarvík was formerly a mansion in Selvogur inlet but is now deserted and was declared a nature reserve in 1988. The poet Einar Benediktsson (1864-1940) used to live in Herdísarvík in the latter years of his life. He was a poet, editor, lawyer, officials and entrepreneur. He is among others famous for trying to sell the Northern Lights.
One of the best swimming pool in South Iceland. The pool in Þorlákshöfn is a 25-meter long pool, with two hot tubs, children’s pool, two water slides and an indoor children’s pool with toys. The indoor pool is only 45 cm deep and very popular with the kids. By the pool is a water steam bath, two spacious dressing rooms and two outdoor dressing rooms.

Hafnarnesviti light house
Hafnarnes is an area on the edge of the town Thorlákshöfn where you are surrounded by beautiful cliffs and the majestic ocean. The lighthouse is not open for visitors but is very picturesque with the waves banging against the cliffs.
Believe it or not but you can actually surf in Iceland and it is amazing. The black beach in Þorlákshöfn is fabulous for surfing where you enjoy the view while riding the waves.
At surf.is you can find everything about surfing in Iceland. They can take you on tours and teach you if you are a beginner. Or if you are a professional you can go with them and have a splendid beach day where they lent you the gear.
The church in Þorlákshöfn is called Þorlákskirkja. It was consecrated in 1982 and the first mass was held than even though the church wasn’t ready.
Its construction began in 1979 and Jörundur Pálsson, architect drew it. Prior to that church, the people went to Hjalli in Ölfus for a church that is from 1770. It is believed that churched had though been in Iceland 250-400 years before that.
In Þorlákshöfn there is an 18-hole golf course close to the black beach often called the beach course as the ground underneath the grass is mainly sand.

Hendur í Höfn
Hendur í Höfn is a romantic café in Þorlákshöfn. This cosy Icelandic café is perfect for you to relax and enjoy cakes, homemade bread, soups and other dishes.
The café is adorably decorated with both antiques and furniture from pallets. Open during the summer time from 10 am to 7 pm but is also open for groups during winter time but you need to book in advance.

Meitillinn is a pizzeria, grill, bar and restaurant in South Iceland, Þorlákshöfn. Meitillinn is a typical Icelandic restaurant in the countryside serving all sorts of dishes.
The restaurant also serves typical Icelandic homemade food during lunchtime. The restaurant can take up to 30 people in a group however you need to book than in advance.
